about

OIKOS 4:45 is a vision that was birthed in the heart of its founder Manny Flores. While serving a 20 year prison sentence, the Lord drew him back to the fold and placed in his heart the desire to serve His Kingdom as well as his local community.

One night while accompanied by his wife Betty, Manny set
out from NVCS (where he works) with 20 or so styrofoam
plates filled with chef-prepared meals that were donated
by Warner Brothers studios. These meals were given to
Manny to be used at his discretion. Thinking of the homeless
that they’d see daily who were living under the 405 freeway
underpass, Manny and Betty felt that those people would truly
appreciate the quality food Manny and Betty could bring.
And, more importantly, that those people would appreciate
the message that Manny and Betty hoped to convey to them
– that they indeed were worth not only the highest quality food,
but also the salvation offered by God and His Son Jesus Christ.
What started off as a “whim” has now grown into 220 plus meals
that are distributed every Wednesday night by the OIKOs 4:45
Outreach team

OIKOS 4:45 has been described as a “rag tag” bunch of believers that have come together for the sole (soul)
purpose of ministering God’s love to those who are most often marginalized by society. Often even marginalized by the institutional church. OIKOS 4:45 is organically ecumenical and Christ centered. We seek to be a “city within a city” that passionately loves Jesus Christ, intentionally engages in authentic community, and radically advances the cause of Jesus.

The love of Christ is not bound by one's status in life, but rather by those who are willing to let Him into their hearts.
